SHOW'S WHITE
Tasmanian Country
, Friday March 18th 2005

Taking the wheel of the family stock truck proved worthwhile for Debbielee White; the family won major interbreed awards at Wynyard Show...

Mrs White made the trip from the family's Jordon Poll Hereford stud at Melton Mowbray with four cattle on board. The family started the day off well, winning both the junior and senior champion Poll Hereford bull titles.

A 22 month old cow, Mt Raven Prudence, continued the family's success, taking out the senior and overall champion Poll Hereford female awards.

Things got even better in the interbreed classes. The family's 22 month old bull, Jenora Yalta, followed on from his win at Scottsdale show, taking out the senior interbreed bull award. Fifteen month old bull Bowen Ni ello also added to the White's ribbon collection winning the junior interbreed bull title.

It was a wonderful day," Mrs White said, "I was a bit nervous driving the truck for the first time, but it all went really well."

Rachel Whelan, who works on the White's property, won champion in the junior cattle handler competition, finishing the day off nicely.

Owned by Chris and Debbielee White and family, Yalta weighed in at 650kg to be an impressive exhibit at just 18-months of age. Yalta's mother took out the grand champion title at last year's Brighton Show.

In their debut performance at Scottsdale, the White family exhibited six cattle in total from their Jordon Poll Hereford Stud.

Chris & Debbielee White of JPHS :: With Allendale Rosemount at DubboLUCKY 13 POINTED WAY TO TOP BUY
The Land
, Tuesday June 10th 2004

For newcomers to the Poll Hereford stud game, Chris and Debbie White, all the omens pointed to “going for it and paying the top price of $52,000 for the grand champion bull, Allendale Rosemount (AI)...

Travelling from Melton Mowbray in the Southern Midlands district of Tasmania, the couple stayed in room 13 at their chosen Dubbo motel, the bull that caught their eye was lot 13, and when they were offered bid card number 13 they couldn’t refuse.

Then as the price neared $52,000 in the heat of the auction action, they realised Chris was wearing the same coloured and striped shirt as Lachlan Day of the stud the bull was bred at (Allendale Poll Hereford stud, Bordertown, South Australia) to clear any starridden doubts they might have had.

The Whites only established their Jordon Poll Hereford stud in 2000 and came to Dubbo with the firm intention of finding an impact sire for their stud.

Mrs White said they chose Allendale Rosemount for his clean shoulder, good length and front, and tremendous hindquarters.

They were also impressed by his versatile performance figures for all growth stages, which were well above the breed average estimated breeding values for 2000 drop bulls, with a 200 day weight at +30, 400 day at +44, and a 600 day weight figure of +64.

“To buy a bull like this would save us 20 years of breeding,” Mrs White said.

Establishing the stud was a natural progression from their Arabian horse stud, Orabanda, and their need to breed bulls for their 400 head commercial Poll Hereford herd.

“And I want a Dubbo national champion within the next four years,” Mrs White joked.

She said the stud was also for their two daughters, aged seven and ten, who even at their tender ages were keen to show cattle and get into the stud industry.

Before being shipped to Tasmania where Allendale Rosemount will be joined with 35 stud cows, the couple organised for semen to be collected from him for in herd use.
